Pre-proposal Fellows Programme
The PhD pre-proposal period in the life of young academics is often a difficult period, especially for students who have limited training in methodology and approaches. The ECMI has therefore developed a Pre-proposal Fellows Programme to assist potential PhD candidates in the difficult pre-proposal period. The aim is to work with the Fellows through a successful application process in order that the Fellow may become attached to the Centre for the period of the candidacy. The ECMI is not accredited to offer degrees but we work closely with a number of distinguished professors around Europe who are able to act as supervisors pending adequate qualification of the Fellow in question.
During the pre-proposal period, Fellows work directly with Senior Research Associates in the area of their interest. Senior Research Associates supervise the framing of the project proposal, assist in getting it reviewed by scholars from the ECMI networks, assist in identifying relevant institutions and supervisors as well as in identifying relevant funding options.
Fellows need not be in residence during the pre-proposal period but is expeced to pay several visits to the Centre while the work with Senior Research Associates takes place.
Interested researchers should contact the Head of Cluster in the area of study of their interest. For the clusters, please follow the link below:
