Ugo Caruso (Italy)

Before joining the ECMI, Mr. Caruso has been a researcher in International Law, Human and Minority Rights at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, Faculty of Law. At the University of Frankfurt am Main, he was also responsible for the administration of two EU-funded projects focused on minority rights issues in the Former Yugoslavia and South Asia respectively. From 2008 to 2011, Mr. Caruso has worked as consultant and researcher for the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC), Learning and Training Services (LTS) Unit. Before joining the UNSSC, he also worked for the Council of Europe Roma and Travellers Division.
Mr. Caruso has a background in Law and holds a Master’s Degree in Peacekeeping. He is currently finalizing his Ph.D. in Public International Law at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, Faculty of Law, on the co-operation between United Nations and Regional Organizations in conflict-related scenarios, taking the Former Yugoslavia as a case study.
