ECMI participates in the EU’s Fundamental Rights Agency Platform

ECMI Director Dr. Tove H. Malloy participates in the 3rd annual Fundamental Rights Platform (FRP) of the European Union’s Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) in Vienna, Austria on 16 and 17 April 2010. ECMI was invited to become a member of the FRP in 2009. The FRP is a network for co-operation and information exchange, set to act as the main channel for the FRA’s co-operation with civil society and to ensure a close co-operation between the Agency and relevant stakeholders. The specific tasks of the Platform are to make suggestions on the Annual Work Programme, to give feedback and suggest follow-up on the Annual Report, to communicate outcomes and recommendations of conferences, seminars and meetings relevant to the work of the Agency. In addition, the Agency will interact with the participants of the FRP in accordance with specific needs related to areas identified as a priority for the Agency's work.

At this year’s meeting the Advisory Panel to the FRP will be elected for a two-year period. The Advisory Panel supports the work of the Director of the FRA in organising and co-ordinating the Platform and will advice in preparing associated meetings and events. The FRP is a tool in aiding the good functioning of the Platform, suggesting, where necessary, adjustments and improvements to processes and procedures, thus facilitating a vibrant, healthy dialogue between the Platform and the Director of the FRA. The Advisory Panel consists of 9 members. ECMI’s Director, Tove H. Malloy is one candidate among 55 running for the Advisory Panel.
