The Ankara Conference on Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution

Using Cultural Diplomacy as a Tool to Build Sustainable Peace

From 17-19 April 2012, the ECMI participated in the Conference on Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution organized by the city of Ankara and the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD).  Ignasi Torrent Oliva from the Conflict and Security Research Cluster of the ECMI, presented the paper “Dealing with Reconciliation: A Theoretical Framework and its Policy Fundaments” on Wednesday, 18  April.

The ICD is at the center of a global network of independent partners in both the public and private sectors, whose collective mission is to enhance the process of international and interregional human interaction by improving the very fabric of social relations. Through its regular events about peacebuilding and inter-cultural diplomacy, the aim of the ICD is to encourage dialogue and therefore transfer of ideas, experiences and expertise. The ICD´s ultimate goal is to promote global peace and stability by strengthening and supporting intercultural relations at all levels.
