ECMI KYIV based representative, Ukraine

Before joining the ECMI, Mrs. Mekahal was directly involved with the participation of minorities in decision-making processes, non- discrimination and hate crimes issues over 5 years working with governmental institutions, local self - governments, representatives of national minorities and foreign students in Ukraine.

She was a member of the Working Group for elaboration of the National Human Rights Strategy and the Action Plan for its implementation. Natalia’s research interests cover issues of development of the State ethnic policy, decentralization processes in restructuring local governments and civil society participation in decision-making process.

Mrs. Nataliia Mekahal holds an MA in International Relations with specialization in Political Science at the Institute of International Relations of Kyiv National University named after Taras Shevchenko, completed the program at the Monterey Institute of International Studies on Non-proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), completed training at the Academy of civic participation under the Council of Europe Program "Strengthening the institutional capacity of local authorities in Ukraine".
