Polina Sulima is a Project Research Associate at the European Centre of Minority Issues. She joined the Centre back in April 2017 as Project Assistant for the Eastern Partnership Programme (EPP). Prior to that, Polina also worked and volunteered for the European Youth and Exchange Centre in Weimar, Germany (EJBW).
Polina holds an MA Degree in Political Science with special focus on International Relations, Foreign Policy, and International Organizations from the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, and a Ukrainian Bachelor in Teaching and Philology (English) from the Central Ukrainian State Pedagogical University named after Volodymyr Vynnychenko. For her graduate studies in Jena, Germany, Polina has been awarded a grant by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
Polina’s current research at the ECMI covers projects related to nationalism, youth empowerment, minority education, minority mapping in Ukraine and Russia, and human rights monitoring in the post-Soviet de-facto states. She also co-directed and participated in a series of action-oriented projects dealing with minority youth activism in Ukraine(2018) and Moldova(2019).
