Exhibition Opening: ECMI project Empowering Future Minority Leaders (in Moldova)

2019-11-28

We proudly present the ECMI project Empowering Future Minority Leaders (in Moldova).

The opening of the exhibition will take place at the Danish Library (Norderstr. 59, 24939 Flensburg), 1st floor on 11th December 2019 at 16.00 hrs.

(The exhibition will run from December 11th until December 23rd).

After a short welcome word, there will be a discussion with the participants of the project followed by the presentation of the project`s video and the presentation of the illustrations of eleven different minority stories in Moldova. A little snack and refreshments will be provided/ Language: English.

The aim of the project is to support minority youth as a vulnerable group in Moldova by improving their prospects for their future by fostering their civic engagement as an inevitable part of their own economic and social progress. The 20 participants originate from different minority backgrounds in Moldova and are aged between 16 and 25 years. They successfully passed the application process where they were required to provide detailed information about their motivation and displayed strong leadership potential to become the young drivers of change. On the exhibition opening, ten participants of the group will be present to answer questions.

The main part of the training consisted of the development of the participants’ own civic campaign. In a one-week seminar and an intensive workshop earlier this year, the young minority representatives gained profound knowledge in active civic engagement and learned about funding, budgeting, social media and campaigning. The civic campaign which they developed together promotes an inclusive understanding of the Moldovan national identity and the role of minority youth in active civic life. More information

The project started in summer 2019 and has been implemented in cooperation with the Moldovan partner “Youth Platform for Interethnic Solidarity”. Empowering Future Minority Leaders (in Moldova) is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.

The campaign has already been exhibited in Chisinau on 22nd October 2019 and will now be exhibited in Germany (Flensburg). The venue of the second exhibition is not a coincidence; it has been chosen due to its direct location in the German-Danish border region. The exchange between minority members and representatives of minority organisations of the German-Danish border region and the project`s participants was another, very import aspect for the project - also in terms of sustainability.
