Sharing Knowledge

Since its foundation in 1996, the ECMI has had a strong focus on the practical implementation of its research and focuses very much on youth in this context. The idea behind it is simple: When it comes to the sustainability of minority rights, we believe that the best guarantor for it is the youth. Only the younger generation can assure the ongoing existence and implementation in the future.  The students of today can be the custodians of minority rights in the times ahead and the drivers of change regarding their further implementation. Since 2011, the ECMI has organised an annual summer school on National Minorities in Border Regions, as well as other training initiatives for students such as the Spring School in 2020. The ECMI researchers regularly teach at institutions abroad (previous examples include the University of Swansea in Wales, UK and the OSCE Academy in Bishkek).
