The highly specialized collection offers public access to a variety of materials in more than twenty languages on interethnic relations, language and cultural diversity issues and ethnic conflict in Europe.

The Library includes a useful reference section and a considerable number of published and unpublished reports, and is especially strong in the area of minority protection with regards to international law. The ECMI Library is also unique in that it includes an ever-growing number of annual reports of Ombudsman offices around the world, which provide insight into the human rights situation in many countries. Current periodical and newspaper subscriptions reflect the multidisciplinary nature of ECMI research, and reference services are provided both in-house and for the general public.

Title Chaos totalos : Sprava z geta
Parallel title / Title of generic unit Total Chaos : Report from the Ghetto
Subject 1. Roma-Slovakia.
Publisher Prague: G plus G
Year 2002
Pages 187
Description The author lived for a year and a half in a Roma settlement in Eastern Slovakia. Since then, she has been visiting Hermanovce regularly several times a month. The news from the ghetto, the book's sub-title, are a collection of texts which she sent to her friends via e-mail between August 2000 and August 2002. In these, she describes her immediate impressions on life in the settlement and work in the Roma community. These very personal texts are published in an unprocessed, "raw" form, making her account even more powerful. The book is published in the author's mother tongue, Slovak, because the publisher did not want to deprive it of its authenticity and unfalsified purity. Out of concern for safety, some of the names of the "heroes" and places were changed.
