ECMI Library
The ECMI Library is an independent collection of books, journals, and grey literature of more than 3,000 items covering many aspects of minority issues. The highly specialized collection offers public access to a variety of materials in more than twenty languages on interethnic relations, language and cultural diversity issues and ethnic conflict in Europe.
The Library includes a useful reference section and a considerable number of published and unpublished reports, and is especially strong in the area of minority protection with regards to international law. The ECMI Library is also unique in that it includes an ever-growing number of annual reports of Ombudsman offices around the world, which provide insight into the human rights situation in many countries. Current periodical and newspaper subscriptions reflect the multidisciplinary nature of ECMI research, and reference services are provided both in-house and for the general public.

| Description | Almost as soon as the bombs stopped falling on Yugoslavia, the Clinton administration and the other NATO governments proclaimed that the alliance had scored a great victory. They emphasized that Yugoslavia's president, Slobodan Milosevic, had capitulated to their demands for a NATO-led peacekeeping force in Kosovo and the the Albanian Kosovar refugees would be able to return to their homes. According to proponents of the war, NATO had waged a successful campaign to prevent genocide; had enhanced its credibility as an effective institution for preserving peace, stability and justice in post-Cold War Euirope; and had stuck fear in the hearts of would-be aggressors around the world. In the narrowest sense it is possible for U.S. and West European officials to 'spin' the NATO bombing campaign as a victory. But all policies must be judged in their total context, and on that basis the outcome is far less impressive. Indeed, the results to date appear to be just shy of a full-blown policy fiasco. The spectacle of Albanian Kosovars attacking peacekeepers who attempt to block them from cleansing Kosovo of its remaining Serbian inhabitants (as well as Roma and all other non-Albanians) is only the most visible and potent symbol of an intervention that went tragically wrong. |

Materials from the ECMI Library may not be loaned out, but can be consulted in the Danish library on the following days:
