ECMI Library
The ECMI Library is an independent collection of books, journals, and grey literature of more than 3,000 items covering many aspects of minority issues. The highly specialized collection offers public access to a variety of materials in more than twenty languages on interethnic relations, language and cultural diversity issues and ethnic conflict in Europe.
The Library includes a useful reference section and a considerable number of published and unpublished reports, and is especially strong in the area of minority protection with regards to international law. The ECMI Library is also unique in that it includes an ever-growing number of annual reports of Ombudsman offices around the world, which provide insight into the human rights situation in many countries. Current periodical and newspaper subscriptions reflect the multidisciplinary nature of ECMI research, and reference services are provided both in-house and for the general public.

| Description | At the start of the 1990s, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia were locked in a downward spiral of territorial disputes, ethnic strive and economic decline, while the soviet collapse opened the way for a new round of great-power rivalry for regional hegemony. The prospects for the newly independent states of the South Caucasus looked bleak. Yet at the end of the decade, ceasefires have brought and end to open warfare, the new states have survived and stabilized, and the development of Caspian oil and Eurasian transport corridors holds out hope for economic recovery. This study assesses the political and economic development of the three countries and analyses the factors that are shaping the region's near- to medium term future. It questions whether the current political stability will endure and whether the bottoming out of economic decline will lead to sustainable growth. It considers possible outcomes to the stalemeates that have frozen conflicts but left them unresolved, and examines the dynamics of the region's complex international relations. Finally, it explores the prospects for cooperation and integration among the Caucasian countries. |

Materials from the ECMI Library may not be loaned out, but can be consulted in the Danish library on the following days:
