ECMI Library
The ECMI Library is an independent collection of books, journals, and grey literature of more than 3,000 items covering many aspects of minority issues. The highly specialized collection offers public access to a variety of materials in more than twenty languages on interethnic relations, language and cultural diversity issues and ethnic conflict in Europe.
The Library includes a useful reference section and a considerable number of published and unpublished reports, and is especially strong in the area of minority protection with regards to international law. The ECMI Library is also unique in that it includes an ever-growing number of annual reports of Ombudsman offices around the world, which provide insight into the human rights situation in many countries. Current periodical and newspaper subscriptions reflect the multidisciplinary nature of ECMI research, and reference services are provided both in-house and for the general public.

| Description | This volume represents a substantial effort to involve the accession countries in the debate on the future of the future of the European Union. The citizens and public in accession countries have been mainly concerned with the when and how of enlargement, framing the finalite of the European Union as an isssue of interest mainly for the current 15 member states. The present volume contributes to increasing the knowledge base in the accession countries, but also on the applicants, on the kind of new EU members they are likely to become in an enlarged EU. Ideas and interests of the future new member states are explored and articulated in a substantial way. The authors believe that the prospective new members have important experience and knowledge to add to the debate, both concerning the EU's future institutional set-up and the policy challenges of the future. It is indeed in the EU's interest to listen to accession countries and not to continue reducing them to a policy-taker role, as was done during most of the enlargement process. It is therefore not only the accession countries, but also the EU that should start thinking enlarged. |

Materials from the ECMI Library may not be loaned out, but can be consulted in the Danish library on the following days:
