Minority Issues in Times of Conflict
Ongoing Projects
- Minority Issues in the context of the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine
This research theme explores inter-minority relations with a specific focus on attitudes and political behaviour in the context of the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine. We put a special focus on two ethnic groups, Russian minorities and Crimean Tatars. We investigate the willingness of Russian speakers to defend their country and their trust in democratic institutions, as well as the cultural identity and resilience of Crimean Tatars amidst historical oppression. A project proposal will be developed which aims to explore how experiences of violence and displacement shape attitudes of minority members.
